A week with friends in London.

What a great week we had in London! I must admit that I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the buzz of the city and the choice of things to do. We stayed in a cheap but good hostel just next to the Kensington Gardens side of Hyde Park. Greg and his friend Luke thought the Princess Diana memorial park was just the best place, a big pirate boat and lots of sand. Not so nice to walk in when we were back in the hostel bedroom and emptied sand from their pockets everywhere! The Natural History Museum was fantastic, as was the Science museum despite the fire alarm going off (a real fire was going on) and us having to return the next day. At both these museums there were a lot of hands on things for the kids to do and I still find it hard to believe that there is no admission fee.

We walked a lot and thanks to Kelly I now know how to navigate the underground system. We saw The Lion King at the theatre, a great show for kids and adults. I loved Covent Garden and all the street entertainers there, the boys were too shy to pose with the silver painted warrior but Ella was more than happy. Buckingham Palace was as to be expected, lots of people, a long wait and 10 mins of entertainment! Having said that, the day we went to the Palace we had a lovely walk from Westminster through a park with squirrels everywhere.

The hostel was 'The Royal Bayswater Hotel' if anyone is looking for a cheap and cheerful, central place to stay while visiting London.
